Wines
The homemade wine section was set up in April 1970. The executive officer appointed was Mrs Ruby le Page who held this office until 1986 when Joan Roussel took over.
The entry fee in 1970 was to be the grand sum of 1/- (one shilling) but to conform with other sections it was increased to one and sixpence in 1971!
The silver tray for the best entry was purchased and was called the R G Davies Home Made Wine trophy. It wasn’t until 1976 that there was a trophy for liqueurs named the Le Hurel Trophy, which was followed by the donation of two further trophies - the Bucktrout Trophy in 1986, and the Randall Bowl in 1990.
There are currently 10 classes covering a selection of white, rosé and red (and other!) wines and also a sloe gin and beer / cider class.
