Guernsey Eisteddfod Silk Painting

 

The Silkpainting section aims to provide competition for all standards of silk artists.

There is a junior section for under 16's with new topics each year and prizes for three different age groups. Adults have a beginner's trophy and a number of classes which cover the various silkpainting techniques which may be applied to silk or other fabrics. Eight further classes are designed to stretch even the most advanced silkpainters and these include topics which are changed each year so entries have to be painted especially with the Eisteddfod in mind. There is a trophy for a group of silkpainters. Again the subject matter changes each year. Finally there is a class for any fabric painting which does not fit into any other class so every piece of work can be accommodated.

The adjudicators for this section are chosen from the international Silkpainters' Guild. They all give encouraging and constructive criticism to each entry and they also present a public lecture about their own work during their stay in Guernsey.
