Artistic Roller Skating
Team Event - 'Phoenix Jetset'
Artistic Roller Skating has been included in the Eisteddfod since the early 1980’s which has been supported by both skating clubs in Guernsey and Jersey. The discipline followed is Roller Dance, which is simply “Dancing on Wheels”. The Eisteddfod gives the opportunity for all skaters from the absolute beginner to international standard to participate giving a wide variety for the spectators to view.
The event is judged very differently to the dance festivals where a minimum of three adjudicators are flown into the Island to judge the events, and as with all Eisteddfod classes the winner is awarded a trophy and other entries awarded certificates.
The fun part is the individual show numbers which allow the competitors to leave their mark on well known songs, with judges from local stage and dance schools adjudicating the events - which sometimes can be very difficult!
So come down have a look and support our local stars of the sport!
