The French Section takes place on three days in March, adjudicated by a French national connected with the performing arts.

The French Section begins on the Thursday at Ladies' College with age 16 - Open, including Adult learners and French nationals. There are entertaining and varied sessions for Junior schools at Beau Sejour on the Friday afternoon and for Secondary schools on Friday evening at Ladies' College. The closing event is Infant-Primary up to year 3 on Saturday morning at Ladies' College.  Young people compete as individuals in reciting poetry and prepared reading, singing and monologues. School groups compete in choral speaking, short extracts from plays, dialogues, songs - classroom, traditional, sacred or popular and duets.

Competitors may choose to perform in costume and with movement and props as they wish.

You don’t have to know much French to enjoy the sessions and you would have to go a long way to see anything sweeter than the little children on the Saturday morning!
