Art and Craft - Juniors
Junior Arts & Crafts
The Junior Art and Craft section encourages contributions of different forms and techniques of Art and Craft found in Schools in the Bailiwick of Guernsey from pre-school to Secondary School, and allows these collections to be displayed in the Exhibition section of the Eisteddfod. The schools are asked to create displays around and within the exhibition, and the response to this has always been enthusiastic.
The feedback from visitors over many years has invariably been one of astonishment, not only at the scale of the exhibition, but also the rareness of such a concept. Some of the Secondary Schools allow their work to be entered into a competition for the Mitchell Trophy, judged each year by an adjudicator, the main criteria being the quality of the work in the exhibition, either as a whole or as an individual. A Primary- age 'open' competition is held each year for the Anne-Marie and Justice Afeni Cup,and this is in watercolour and based on a theme of 'Guernsey'.
